Grab a cup of coffee and cozy up – I want to give you a little peek into my story and share about an opportunity I’m working really hard for!
My journey to safer beauty began over three years ago before my first son Bode was born. Understanding that our skin is our largest organ and what we put onto it gets absorbed into our bodies, I began reading the labels of baby products ingredient by ingredient. I could not believe it when I found out that some of the very ingredients I was supposed to be putting onto his newborn skin had been linked to serious complications like cancer, organ toxicity, infertility, hormone disruption and more.
It’s safe to say that the hunt for and incorporation of safer personal care and beauty products for our family spiraled from there.
I was first introduced to Beautycounter a few years back through a friend’s party and quickly fell in love with their products. After incorporating various makeup and skincare products into my routine, I was naturally sharing about it with friends and health coaching clients. I decided to make it official and became a consultant close to 15 months ago.
When I first became a consultant, I understood that not all products were safe and that we offered safer products, but what I didn’t realize is how backward our laws are or how much advocacy work Beautycounter does on a grassroots level to create positive change in our country.
To give you a brief little background, the United States has not passed a major federal law in the beauty industry since 1938 (82 years ago). The FDA does not require companies to submit safety data before they market and sell a product and they can’t recall harmful products. Companies are allowed to hide hundreds of different ingredients under the word fragrance and they are not required to test for heavy metal contamination. This is 100% a human health issue.
Safer products are just the face of Beautycounter, their layers go deep.
Since Beautycounter began their journey seven short years ago, they’ve worked with lawmakers to ensure issues like ingredient review, labeling and recalls are consumer safety priorities. This past December, our CEO and owner Gregg was asked to testify in front of Congress for cosmetic reform – a huge honor.
They’ve been directly involved with instating protective health laws in states like California, Oregon and Hawaii.
To date, the company and consultants have collectively sent over 150,000 emails, made over 13,000 calls and held over 1,500 district meetings – all in the name of #betterbeauty.
But there is still work to do.
This year, Beautycounter is taking 105 consultants to Washington DC in April.
This is a trip that is earned (not given) and in my opinion would be of THE HIGHEST honor because the consultants who are going will be face to face with lawmakers and get to share their words, heart and vote for safer beauty laws in our country.
This experience is for those truly driven to rewrite the laws and protect future generations.
I am working hard to earn this trip but I can’t earn it on my own. I can only earn it through your support and the support of others! Here is how you can play a role in lending your voice:
Shop through me in January and February.
Every single purchase you make through me from now until the end of February will translate to a vote, allowing me to represent you and your family in DC.
If you don’t have it, my shopping link is www.beautycounter.com/ginaschade
Refer your loved ones to me.
It’s only natural to want to share safer beauty and great products with people you love. If you have a few friends in mind, I’d love to meet with them one on one or in a small group setting with you over coffee. I would love to offer you a Beauty Bucks referral reward for your referral. You know I will take good care of them!
Join my team as a consultant.
I know this is not going to be for everyone but that’s what makes it special. I could rattle off 100 different reasons why I love being a consultant but I’d rather chat with you about it individually if it’s something you’ve ever considered in the past.
At the very least, I would be honored if you would text BETTERBEAUTY 52886 to cast your vote for safer beauty to your local lawmakers.
Dangit, I feel passionate about this. This issue is SO BIG on my heart and it brings me so much joy to work for safer change in our country and help women like you develop their healthiest skin through safer products!
I appreciate you chatting with me.
Fingers crossed we make it to DC! Xo
