I shared a recent blog post about how colorants used in the cosmetic industry are commonly contaminated with harmful heavy metals.
These harmful heavy metals like lead or arsenic to name a few, have been linked with cancer, organ dysfunction, neurotoxicity and more.
Thankfully, the FDA does not allow companies to use these heavy metals as intentional ingredients but they don’t require companies to screen products for heavy metal contamination.
So what this means is that just because a product isn’t formulated with a heavy metal does not mean that it doesn’t contain one!
As a consumer, you have to do your own testing or rely on companies who do the backend work for you.
Beautycounter goes above and beyond what other companies are doing in terms of your safety against heavy metals. They test every single batch of color cosmetics for unsafe heavy metal contamination.
With the holiday season coming up, most of us are looking to pick up a few new lip shades that we can wear throughout the season. I want to share some of my favorite Beautycounter options with you.
The lip options below will not only deliver on safety but color, hydration and shine as well!
First things first, you must prep your pout with the Pout Perfecter Lip Care Set. This set is designed to exfoliate and moisturize your lips to create the perfect canvas for your lip color. Use the Lip Polish and Better Balm at night and use the Crystal Lip Gloss the following morning!
Color Intense Lipstick. This baby will provide you with long-wearing, one-swipe color with a rich satin finish! You will have all of the glitz and glam with none of the harmful ingredients. My favorite colors for the holiday season are Girls Night (classic red), Little Black Dress (neutral berry) and Twilight (bright berry).
Sheer Lipstick. This is formulated with hydrating jojoba esters and is a buildable lipstick that delivers an ultra-nourishing wash of color. It can easily be applied without a mirror and feels so good going on that you’ll want to use it again and again. This is THE ONLY lipstick I’ve found that doesn’t make my lips feel dry. I love Twig for an everyday neutral, Rose for a subtle pop of pink and Currant for a nice winter color.
Lip Gloss. I am a gloss girl through and through! Beautycounter’s lip glosses are so hydrating and deliver the perfect amount of sheer color and shine! Plus, they aren’t sticky at all! My favorite colors for this season are Rosewood (warm neutral), Fig (plum) and Sienna (raisin).
Rosewood Lip Trio. If you like variety, the Rosewood Lip Trio is for you! Rosewood is one of our most popular shades and it now comes in a Sheer and Color Intense Lipstick! This set will take you from morning errands to evening parties. Wear each piece on its own or layer them together for a bold and shiny look!
Mini Lip Gloss Vault. This could be my favorite set of the holiday season! It’s a girl’s dream come true! The Vault comes with ten shades in a variety of matte, shiny and sparkly finishes! Use each alone or layer a few together! This is also a great set to purchase with the intent to gift. Keep a few for yourself and use the others as stocking stuffers or add-ons to gifts. I love to tie a mini gloss together with a Starbucks or Target gift card and give them to teachers, hairstylists, hosts, etc!
If you’re not into bold colors but like high-shine, you have to check out The Jellies! They remind me of Lip Smackers! These have been THE HOTTEST seller of the holiday season so far! Tweens, teens and adults adore them! I’ve been keeping one with me at all times!
Last but not least, whether you’re a lipstick or a lip gloss kind of gal, you will love our Better Balm Duo. The Better Balm formula moisturizes, conditions and reduces the appearance of lines on your lips. (Yep, that’s a thing!) The duo comes with a Citrus Vanilla and Berry scent. The Citrus Vanilla goes on clear and the Berry provides a subtle natural flush to your lips!
If you need help color matching or selecting a gift for a loved one, please let me know, I am happy to help!
