I shared this statistic on my Facebook page earlier in the week and it sparked great conversation.
Tell me, are you aware of this?
Over 80,000 chemicals are used today in personal care products, most of which have no safety data. Ummm, excuse me? No. Safety. Data. (Not cool.)
You would think the FDA would protect you against companies using untested chemicals in their lotions, shampoos, baby washes, deodorants and more, right?
It’s kinda crazy but the FDA has very limited authority over the cosmetics industry.
Noted medical organizations and academic institutions have highlighted the link between the chemicals found in our environment—including personal care products—and a decline in public health.
Finding safe products is a responsibility that falls heavily on the consumer.
Where do you start?
My advice: Choose one product you use daily and look for a safer alternative.
You probably use lotion every day, right?
Start there. One of the brands I recommend to clients is Everyone for Every Body.
You can purchase it at Whole Foods, Fresh Thyme or online. It’s only about $10!
I am a big fan of this scent (naturally scented) but the others are nice too!
