I Took the Leap

It has always been a goal of mine to write a cookbook. Deep in my heart, I knew this goal would come to fruition but I wasn’t sure when or how. The past six months or so I have felt that internal “pull” and knew it was time to take action when the opportunity presented itself. The Institute for Integrative Nutrition (where I did my nutrition training) opened enrollment for a Launch Your Dream Book course to start this June. I knew that this was IT–that it was the right time. I took the leap and joined the program. The Launch Your Dream Book course is a six month program designed to help you step-by-step publish a book. I know for me, when I am a novice at something, I want guidance, support, and accountability. So far, this program has been the perfect mix of all three.

You guys, I am so on fire about this. I can’t wait to share my favorite old family recipes with you. They are the ones I grew up with. They are the ones my mom would serve us after a long day of school, practice, and homework. They are the ones my friends would look forward to when they spent the night. They are the ones that equally got me through happy times and heartbreaks. Many of them have been tweaked to be healthier versions without comprising one single bit on taste. Then there are those that I didn’t dare tweak because some recipes you just don’t change. Grandma’s Million Dollar Fudge can only be Grandma’s Million Dollar Fudge when you follow her handwritten recipe to a tee–no exceptions. What you will love most though is that they are all designed to be doable for busy women. Because what is life if you can’t enjoy good food around the table with your family?

I am lucky to be able to call upon talented women in the community to help with the project. There is nothing that gets me more inspired than working alongside of creative women. From the layout (Brittany Jaso, you are a godsend) to the food photographs (Courtney Schultz , I am in love with all the photographs), I can’t wait to share sneak peeks with you guys throughout this process. My Aunt Sue has also been a huge blessing as she is helping with editing and tweaking some of the content. I may even need your help from time to time picking between recipes or choosing a cover photo.

It’s so awesome when God sets a fire in your heart. I know the “pull” was from Him. I have had a handful of these moments in my life and I have never regretted moving forward. I know it won’t be easy but it will be worth it. Even if I can help one woman cook a meal that will bring her family around the table in laughter and love then it will all be worth it. Follow me in Insta or Facebook to follow along with the project.
