Shopping? Check. Good food? Check. Sweating with a friend? Check. Coffee talk? Check. Happy me? Check! Check!
I spent the weekend with my best friend in Chicago! We were able to squeeze in all of my favorite things (see above) into one weekend! I swear, girlfriends are the best therapy out there and the best part is they are free! I always feel so rejuvenated, connected, inspired, and happy after spending time with Meghan. Life is busy but being intentional about scheduling time with your friends is a must. It really bugs me when people say they don’t have time (I have been guilty of this too) because if something is important enough to you, you will make time to do it. Luckily, Meghan and I have always prioritized our friendship and we make it a point to talk on the phone and visit each other as often as we can. A little effort goes a long way!
We did a lot of shopping in Oakbrook on Saturday. I was hoarding Christmas money specifically for this weekend! I was on a mission for some new workout clothes! We spent most of our time at Nordstrom, Lucy, and Lulu. I have such a hard time finding pants that fit just right but I seem to always have luck at Lucy! I found two pairs of capris and three tops! The tops were all on sale for $20 a piece–score! I love a good deal. I paid full price for the pants but I will spend any amount of money on a pair that fits just right! Meghan’s deal of the day was a leather tote bag at Lulu that she found on clearance for $54! We decided she pretty much had to buy it since it was such a good deal! We were pretty excited about our finds–the joy of finding a good deal!
By the time we were done shopping we were so hungry we could have eaten our arms off! We found a cute Mexican restaurant in Lombard, which is close to Oakbrook. We ordered tableside guacamole and chips to start–it was sooo good! I could literally not stop eating it–I am going to go ahead and blame that on low blood sugar. For dinner, I got a big hot plate of ooey gooey chicken, peppers, onions, black beans, and melted cheese. I am a sucker for Mexican meals that I can dip a chip right into!
Sunday morning, we went to a class at Powersculpt Fitness in Lincoln Park. Meghan goes there regularly and I can see why! We did the “Morning Mix” with Lacessa and it was a mix of cardio, weights, and BOSU. It is safe to say she definitely started our morning out right for us with a kick butt workout!
After class, we stopped at Starbucks. Starbucks is a little tradition Meghan and I have. We can’t spend a weekend together and NOT get Starbucks! The smell, the taste, it’s just our favorite!
Her son Tyler’s birthday party was on Sunday too–I was so happy to be able to go! He had a cosmic bowling party and all of the kids loved it! It brought me back to my younger days! Meghan’s parents were in town too and it was so good to see them. I literally spent most of high school at their house–always behaving of course. They are like second parents to me and I don’t get to see them very often!
It was such a fun weekend. I feel so blessed that Meghan and I have stayed so close–she is like a sister to me! I am already planning the next visit!
